This is Godflesh's second release and their first full length album. Streetcleaner was recorded in three sessions: the first with Justin and G.C. Green, the second featuring Paul Neville, and a third session which was entitled Tiny tears, although this EP never saw the light of day in it's intended format (These bonus tracks don't appear on the vinyl version).
Call me biased, but I still think that this is one of the most bleak and pessimistic albums ever put out. If you're looking for variation, look elsewhere. This is very direct and pummeling, in a big way this is achieved through the use of the drum machine: the battering is almost like a pneumatic drill, it's precise and never misses a beat.
If I have to point out flaws, my only gripe would be with the overall low volume on the record. As fate would have it, Justin is remastering Streetcleaner into it's second coming. [Source]
Without further ado, enjoy!

Godflesh - Godflesh (1988)
Godflesh continues to blow my mind to this day. This was their first release. Originally it was only released as vinyl on Swordfish records, I now present you the 1990 Earache re-release with two additional tracks from an unknown recording session.
The ultra-fast grind of Justin's previous band Napalm Death turned into quite the opposite with Godflesh: a mix of cold and oppressive industrial and metal. When you combine a drum machine (the holy Alesis SR-16), G.C. Green's dissonant and bellowing bass, Broadrick's droning and feedback-filled guitar playing with his effect-bathed vocalisations, you get the beginning of a new era of industrial metal. This was revolutionary in 1988, and even today it tends to leave people dumbstruck upon hearing it. Absolute recommendation, do not accept cheap substitutes!
Another request, hope you enjoy this one!

Final - 3 (2006)
The number 3 in our series was released on Neurot Recordings as a double CD in February 2006. Gathering recordings from 2001 up to 2005, the album features quite a broad spectrum of sound. While the second disc has Justin going at it pretty much alone (except for assistance from D. Dalton on Barely here and Northpole), the first disc is a great collabrational effort by Diarmuid and Justin (except again for a few tracks of Justin going solo). Great experimental music here, and with both discs featuring over 70 minutes of material, you're highly unlikely of running out of new sounds to discover. Enjoy!

Final - 2 (1996)
Featuring nine tracks, this album once again features experimental and minimal ambient by our beloved Justin. The running time is over 70 minutes, and includes all-revealing track titles such as *******, /////// and ;;;;;;;. All material written between 1993-1995 by Justin, with additional help from G.C. Green and D. Dalton on a few tracks.

Final - One (1994)
Started by Justin at a very young age, Final released several tapes in the early-to-mid '80s on his own Postmortem label. It basically began as a noise/power electronics project, lots of feedback and screaming; eventually turning into the ambient project you are priviledged to be hearing on One.
The album features eight tracks, of which seven were recorded and mixed at Avalanche studios in '92/'93. The only material written prior to this, was the last tune: 1983-1987 (Edits). Another interesting tidbit of information involves the running time of this digipack by Subharmonic. I have no idea why they had to shave off two minutes in total running time on the digipack, in my opinion a few minutes wouldn't make that much of a difference on an ambient recording.
As I pretty much despise reviewing ambient music, I will let you dive into the whirlpool of sounds yourself. Enjoy!

STROM.ec - Neural architect (2002)
One of Finland's finest in power electronics, I present you STROM.ec and their second full length "Neural architect". It's not as harsh as their first, "Dogs of total order", and I'm not saying that's a bad thing at all. The sound is very crisp, almost clinical in approach. It features ten tracks of excellent power electronics; less aggressive than the precessor, but with a more experimental and hands-on-industrial feel to it. In my opinion Neural architect is one of STROM.ec's finest works up to date; the combination of rhythmic noise, harsh and distorted vocalisations, crisp and in-your-face industrial "clang & bang" .. it all works like a charm. If you listen to this, and you're not scorching your speakers .. you're not playing it loud enough!

Choronzon - Magog Agog (1998)

This was their first full length which came out on Nocturnal Art productions. I presume that Magog Agog is solo work of P. Emerson Williams, and it bears some resemblance to "In the streams of inferno" by Mysticum and some early Aborym. The album opens with Intro: Dust; a demonic test tune of sorts which sets the stage appropriately. After that it's a trippy one hour ride into industrial black metal best experienced with an open and adventurous mind. So, when in doubt, and you need to consult the entity of Chaos, drop some LSD, put on Magog Agog and experience Choronzon.
PS. Two demos available for free on Last.FM, courtesy of P. Emerson Williams.
Seeing me, even Magog is Agog.

Fall Of Because - Life is easy (1999)
Fall Of Because was formed around '83 by Ben Green, Paul Neville and Justin Broadrick. The group fell apart after numerous shows in the UK, as Justin left for Napalm Death and later Head Of David. Now we'll do some skipping in the warps of time and history, and Fall Of Because eventually becomes Godflesh.
Nobody would have guessed that there would be thirteen years between the 1986-demo Extirpate and Life is easy, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. It was supposed to come out on Justins own label hEADdIRT, but the album went through delay after delay, until finally seeing the light of day in 1999.
The album features 11 tracks, of which eight are studio tracks from 1986 and three live tracks from around 1986/87. Two of the live tracks are full live shows, the first containing the songs Empire of lies, Whiterock-Blackdeath, Christian motherfucker and Ecstacy of hate. It's entitled Fight show, due to an enormous audience fight that broke out. The second show is titled Xmas special, the song set features Life is easy, Calling and Submit-Supress.
"Both studio & live material contain considerable dropouts & hiss etc, but this can only help capture the age and atmosphere of these recordings."
Enjoy!

Dälek - From filthy tongue of gods and griots (2002)
You should be aware of what's coming at you by now, this is the first full length by Dälek. Bridging together conventional and experimental successfully, the collective once again deliver the goods! The standout track for me is the twelve-minute behemoth "Black smoke rises"; they discard musical rules altogether, fill the background with atonal drones, computer bleeps, seemingly random feedback and ghostly, levitating spoken word .. the result is a noisy and captivating mantra: "Black smoke rises to a heaven I do not know. Slowly gaze to take in our sorrow."
Repeat mantra until desired effects take place. Enjoy!

Dälek - Absence (2004)
Dark, darker, Dälek.
Their second full length, Absence, continues on the path of noisy and abrasive hip-hop. Take one part loud industrial beats, one part noisy turntable scratching, a few cups of cacophonous noise and the whisk in complimentary vocalisations about poverty, oppression and ignorance. Stir, strain and serve. Enjoy the soundtrack to modern decay. The destruction is imminent; hope that you are ready!

Dälek - Negro Necro Nekros (1998)
Requested by my man n2o4, here's some experimental hip hop à la Dälek! Their first EP, Negro Necro Nekros, is a very dark and strong journey in distorted beats and occasional walls of noise created by the producer Oktopus (a pseudonym of Alap Momin). When you add Dälek's spoken word (the lyrics can be all be found on their homepage) on top of the mix, you end up with a very droning and mesmerizing record.
This is even recommended for people who dislike the rap genre as a whole, this is blistering and "in your face" underground hip hop in every good way imaginable. Enjoy!

Sonic Violence - Transfixion (1992)
Two years after the debut comes Transfixion. This second album is more based on samplers and synths, as they ditched the guitars and switched to two bass and drum players. Sonic Violence planned on releasing a third full length album in 1993, but it never happened and rather won’t, since the musicians buried the band concentrating on their new projects. Instead The Blastecyst Mixes was released, followed by the band breaking up.

The Sidewinder - Colonized (1996)
The Sidewinder was another Justin/Kevin Martin project of the mid-90s. Basically this was a Techno Animal side project, which released one LP, and a 12" EP on Justin's Lo Fibre label. Another track later surfaced on a compilation.
What we got here is distorted bleeps and bloops, droning beats and whipping synths. It should be no surprise that the "genre mafia" dubbed this as "industrial IDM" .. luckily we don't play along in their game of genres and tags, right?

Curse Of The Golden Vampire - Mass Destruction (2003)
The first album had a much more peaceful approach than this abomination .. this is like an amphetamine rush you can't freak out to. Instead you have to sit still, behave, look out the window, tap that foot nervously .. hope you won't get arrested .. bite your fingernails and sweat like a dog .. very distressing isn't it? This is "love it or hate it"-material. Released on Ipecac Records. Enjoy!

Curse Of The Golden Vampire - The Curse Of The Golden Vampire (1998)
A collaboration between Alec Empire and Techno Animal was released in 1998 as The Curse Of The Golden Vampire. Head Of David - Dustbowl (1988)
Head Of David - CD (1986)
There's some cult stuff coming your way: Formed in the early 1980s in The Black Country (West Midlands, UK), Head Of David was an influencial alternative rock band with punk and industrial overtones and is best known as a prototypical Godflesh, due to the fact that ex-Napalm Death member Justin Broadrick played drums for the band prior to forming Godflesh. Head Of David split in 1991, though members Stephen Burroughs, Eric Jurenskovis, Paul Sharp and Dave Cochrane still play together.
The CD version of this was entitled CD while the vinyl release was titled LP. This was released by Blast First back in the day.

When two different worlds collide the results are usually very bizarre and interesting. That's pretty much the case here too, industrial and hip hop combined into this pleasant, earlubing paste. Happy times, I'm back after a short break .. Ice included Kevin Martin on vocals, saxophone, synthesizer and turntables; Justin Broadrick on guitar; David Cochrane on bass and Lou Ciccotelli on drums. Their first album, Under The Skin, was somewhat similar to the industrial rock of Broadrick's Godflesh, but with a more experimentalist bent, notably via Martin's free jazz-influenced saxophone.
