DJ Frane - Frane's fantastic boatride (1999)

This is your chance to join the easygoing lifestyle of the Dude from Big Lebowski. Without the nihilists and somebody pissing on your rug, of course. Just swing on that ol' bathrobe and put on some comfortable slippers instead. We're going on a boatride.

Frane's fantastic boatride is truely an overseen classic in instrumental hip-hop. Combining the tagline "beats to blaze to" with psychedelic and progressive elements into downright funky jams. This is audial bliss featuring fearless sampling, some live instruments and Frane's wicked scratching.

Throw those elements together as an "aquatic" concept album, and you've got quite a trip on your hands. To be enjoyed in a tropical environment while immersed in warm water, preferably with some of your favourite herb. Alternatively a city flat with a bathtub will just have to do.

Now if you'll excuse me, I am going for another dip in the warm water.

Terminal Cheesecake - Angels in pigtails (1990)

Don't worry, it can't get much crazier than 'Angels in pigtails'. This is another colorful acid freakout of epic proportions; A riff-filled wall of psychedelic noise, Funkadelic beats over a chorus consisting of hand drills, the right amount of crunch and punch covered with those human howls and wails bouncing all over the place. It even features a cover by the Residents, Hello Skinny.

As on the original CD, there are 11 songs (the ninth track consists of three parts) crammed into one track with 43 minutes in length. Because I'm a decent bloke, I've even included my version of a cue sheet for your listening pleasure (Feel free to split the tunes into individual tracks for portable players). Hope you enjoy!

Terminal Cheesecake - Pearlesque kings of the Jewmost (1992)

Often called the "love child of Butthole Surfers and Godflesh", Terminal Cheesecake are really hard to pin down and describe. Most of the time they are bouncing all over the place: heavy and relentless bass, massive amount of reverb, plenty of drug references and accompanying samples.

So if you have no problems with the aforementioned drug slang, a freaky TV evangelist, late-night radio talk show-recordings, heavy use of the delay-effect and a healthy dose of that "industrial feel", I recommend you grab this now.

Before you dive headfirst into the sounds, I would also recommend smoking some of your favourite herb. It just might make the digestion of this monster a wee bit easier. Hope you enjoy!

Choronzon - Magog Agog (1998)

Ok, first off I should explain what Choronzon means .. It's a xenodimensional entity, a demon per se. And a music project.

This was their first full length which came out on Nocturnal Art productions. I presume that Magog Agog is solo work of P. Emerson Williams, and it bears some resemblance to "In the streams of inferno" by Mysticum and some early Aborym. The album opens with Intro: Dust; a demonic test tune of sorts which sets the stage appropriately. After that it's a trippy one hour ride into industrial black metal best experienced with an open and adventurous mind. So, when in doubt, and you need to consult the entity of Chaos, drop some LSD, put on Magog Agog and experience Choronzon.
